One of the best all-round local nature spots in this area — genuinely accessible (including for wheelchair users, on parts of the trail), well maintained, and close enough to Devizes to fit into an ordinary afternoon. Oaks, pines and 30-plus ancient-woodland indicator plant species for anyone who wants to look closer.
A well-loved 26-hectare Local Nature Reserve and County Wildlife Site a short walk from Devizes town centre, looked after by the volunteer Drews Pond Wood Project since 1990. A network of paths winds through coppiced broadleaved woodland past a pond usually busy with ducks and other wildfowl, with a nature trail, benches, picnic areas, an outdoor classroom and two wheelchair-accessible sections.
