Friar Waddon Hill

Our verdict

Quiet and unpolished, with real archaeology underfoot if you know where to look — worth a detour if you're already walking the Ridgeway nearby, less so as a stand-alone trip.

Downland above the scattered hamlet of Friar Waddon, with a Neolithic and Bronze Age barrow cemetery on its crest and views south towards the Ridgeway. Grazing land rather than a signed path network.
