Our verdict
The best short circular walk in this area if you want two hillforts, real views and easy parking in one trip. Popular, but rarely crowded given the space.
The combined National Trust holding linking two Iron Age hillforts a mile apart on the wooded ridge above the Marshwood Vale, joined by a stretch of the Wessex Ridgeway. A 3.4-mile circular walk takes in both, with buzzards, ravens and woodpeckers overhead and dormice, badgers and roe deer in the woodland.
