Our verdict
A modest village-edge wood, easy but short — pair it with the Lambert's Castle/Racedown access land nearby rather than driving out for this alone.
A small Woodland Trust wood on the edge of Thorncombe village, close to the Devon border. Wild daffodils, primrose, bluebell, red campion and ferns line the ground beneath the canopy in spring.
