Our verdict
An interesting mix of industrial archaeology and wetland wildlife, flat and easy underfoot along the towpath-style paths. A good half-hour loop rather than a major walk, but worth it for the canal-and-railway history alone.
A Local Nature Reserve built around the site of the old Rushey Platt railway junction and a restored stretch of the Wilts & Berks Canal, where reedy waterways and scrubby wet grassland have reclaimed the old railway land. Bits of the old station survive if you know where to look.
