Quarry Wildlife Garden

Our verdict

A genuine curiosity — you don't often get exposed Jurassic rock in the middle of a housing estate — but it's a pocket-sized site best treated as a short, interesting detour rather than a walk. Watch footing near the old quarry faces.

A small Local Nature Reserve on the site of a former limestone quarry in the aptly named Quarries area of Swindon, where exposed Jurassic limestone faces are now colonised by scrub and wildflowers rather than machinery.

Local Nature Reserve — a council-protected green space, usually free to wander.
