Our verdict
Parking is genuinely tight — a narrow lane down to South Marston Farm — so this suits a walk-in from the village more than a quick drive-up visit. Not much of a destination yet on its own, but will fill out as the trees mature.
A broadleaved wood planted in 2004 north of Swindon near the village of South Marston, part of the wider Great Western Community Forest project that's slowly stitching new woodland across this whole corner of Wiltshire. Still young enough that it reads more as scrub-and-saplings than mature woodland.
A young council-planted broadleaved wood, part of the Great Western Community Forest, open at all times.
