Corston Quarry and Pond

Our verdict

A genuinely local, low-key reserve — nothing dramatic, but a nice quiet spot if you're in the Corston or Malmesbury area and want something other than a formal walk.

A small former quarry on the edge of Corston village, 3km south of Malmesbury, given to the parish council in 1995 and declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2005. It's a modest site by area, but surprisingly rich for its size, with a pond and regenerating quarry scrub supporting a good range of wildlife.

Local Nature Reserve — a council-protected green space, usually free to wander.
