Small and easy — good, level paths mean you can walk right round the meadow and sit by the river without any real effort. A nice quiet contrast to Malmesbury's busier town-centre spots, and easy to combine with a wander round the Abbey.
A 2.6-hectare Local Nature Reserve on the edge of Malmesbury, bought by what's now the Malmesbury River Valleys Trust in 1992 and managed as a wildflower meadow running down to the Bristol Avon. The name comes from 'conygre' — rabbit warren — recalling its use by the Abbey's monks as a source of food before the Reformation. Ragged robin and ox-eye daisy in the meadow, marsh marigolds and yellow iris round the pond, and kingfishers seen along the river.
