Our verdict
A young wood rather than an ancient one, so don't expect the drama of Colerne Park — but it's well cared for, has a proper picnic spot, and makes a pleasant half-hour stop if you're passing through the village.
A small Woodland Trust wood on the edge of Kington St Michael, a few miles north of Chippenham, planted in 1998 with native oak, ash and field maple. There's an open picnic area in the south-east corner with a Diamond Jubilee oak tree, planted to mark the Queen's 2012 anniversary.
