Our verdict
One of the least-visited reserves on the ridge, and that's the appeal — go in June for the flowers and you'll likely have the whole down to yourself. There's no formal path network, so treat it as open hillside and pick your own way up.
Limestone downland on the quiet south side of the Poldens, its steep flowery slopes grazed to keep the grassland species going — orchids, cowslips and marbled white butterflies through the summer months.
