Dundon Beacon

Our verdict

Short and steep but properly rewarding — a quarter-hour of climbing for a view that stretches clean across the Levels. Pair it with Lollover Hill next door and you've got the best half-day on the whole ridge.

A wooded whaleback hill on the Polden ridge, capped by the earthworks of an old beacon site, with flower-rich slopes falling away below and views across the Levels to Glastonbury Tor.
