Knowle Hill (Chew Valley)

Our verdict

Ten minutes up the dragon's back for a view that beggars belief for the effort. The Chew Valley's best-kept little secret — keep it under your hat.

A small, sharp ridge known locally as the Sleeping Dragon, standing alone in the Chew Valley with the lake glittering on one side and Mendip rising on the other.

Open access land under the Countryside & Rights of Way Act. You're free to roam on foot beyond the paths. Dogs on a short lead 1 March to 31 July and around livestock.
