Bratton Ball

Our verdict

Where the crowds from North Hill thin out and the ridge turns wild. Walk it as part of the Selworthy Beacon loop and you get the best mile of coast in West Somerset.

The rounded western summit of the Minehead North Hill ridge, where the coast path's 'rugged' alternative climbs through heath with the Channel on one side and Exmoor on the other.

Open access land under the Countryside & Rights of Way Act. You're free to roam on foot beyond the paths. Dogs on a short lead 1 March to 31 July and around livestock.
