Wareham Forest - Lower Hyde Heath

Our verdict

Effectively the same heath as the neighbouring CRoW parcel, walked as part of the same loop — good, easy heathland with all the usual seasonal caveats. Ground-nesting Dartford warblers and nightjars mean dogs need to stay on the main tracks (or on a lead) through the spring and summer nesting season.

The Forestry England-managed portion of Lower Hyde Heath, adjoining the CRoW-designated section to form one continuous stretch of heath between Philliols Heath and Peat Moor in the middle of Wareham Forest.
