Eight Acre Coppice (near Wool)

Our verdict

A genuine community wood with bluebells in spring where coppicing has reopened the canopy — a reliable, easy option right on the doorstep for anyone staying in Wool. Parking and dog rules are TBC pending confirmation, but this is a well-used local reserve.

A hazel coppice with oak standards on the edge of Wool, saved from a proposed housing development and now doubly protected as a Ministry of Defence and Dorset Council Local Nature Reserve, looked after day-to-day by a village Friends group.
