Our verdict
A pleasant, easy woodland walk within the AONB, and one of the better-signposted Woodland Trust sites in this area thanks to its public footpaths.
A 10-hectare Woodland Trust wood of native oak and ash in a secluded river valley at Stoke Water, just outside Beaminster, with two public footpaths and grassland managed for habitat diversity. A sculpture by Caroline Sharp beside the trail reflects Beaminster's cloth, rope and twine-making past.
