Our verdict
A solid, view-filled climb straight out of Beaminster — good for a proper leg-stretch without a car. Livestock graze the common, so keep dogs close.
Common land on the Dorset Downs above Beaminster, at around 244 metres one of the highest points in west Dorset. Ancient tumuli scatter the high ground, and the Wessex Ridgeway and Monarch's Way both cross the down on their way towards Beaminster Bottom and Kitwhistle Farm.
