A proper, well-signed reserve rather than a rough patch of access land — good boardwalks, two clear loop options depending on how long you've got, and a decent chance of a kingfisher if you're patient. One of the better wetland spots in this part of Wiltshire.
An 11.6-hectare SSSI fen reserve on the edge of Pewsey, also known as the Vera Jeans Reserve — wet woodland, ponds and wet grassland fed by natural springs, with the Salisbury Avon flowing through the middle. Two way-marked routes: a 0.9-mile fen loop and a 1.5-mile orchard loop. Water voles, dragonflies, water shrews and birds including kingfisher, snipe and heron live here, and the wet grassland is grazed by the Trust's Belted Galloway cattle.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust reserve — free to explore on foot; many are dog-free to protect wildlife.
