Our verdict
A proper stretch of river-valley woodland rather than a quick stop — best treated as part of a longer walk (Bradford-on-Avon to Conkwell and back is a popular loop) rather than a stand-alone destination. No dedicated parking that we could confirm, so plan to start from Bradford-on-Avon or Bathford.
Ancient woodland tumbling down to the River Avon and the Kennet & Avon Canal between Bradford-on-Avon and Bath, and a regular feature of the longer circular walks through Conkwell towards Farleigh Wick. Well-used footpaths run through the wood and along the river and canal below it.
Open access land — you can roam freely on foot.
