Our verdict
Tiny — well under a hectare — but genuinely handy for a steep, quick leg-stretch right from the middle of Bradford-on-Avon, with a proper pay-and-display car park by the Library if you're coming from further afield.
Also known locally as The Strips, this is a narrow ribbon of Scots pine and broadleaved woodland clinging to a steep hillside above the River Avon, just south of Bradford-on-Avon town centre. Access is from Bridge Road and the housing estates at the top, or via the footpath running from the town centre towards the golf course.
Council-owned woodland — usually free to walk, look for local access notices.
