Our verdict
Small and easy to combine with Webb's Wood next door for a longer outing. No car park — just roadside space on Wood Lane — and best in late spring/early summer when the orchids are out.
Three flower-rich meadows either side of Woodridge Brook, right next to Webb's Wood on Wood Lane. Over 80 species of wildflower have been recorded here, including pyramidal and early purple orchids, and one field was cleared from Webb's Wood itself back in the 1950s.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust reserve — free to explore on foot; many are dog-free to protect wildlife.
