Our verdict
An honest slice of north Somerset farm-fringe woodland — muddy lanes in, birdsong inside, no infrastructure whatsoever. Winford's pub and a field-path loop turn it into a satisfying Sunday hour.
Broadleaf woodland on the slopes above Winford, in the orchard-and-pasture country between Dundry Hill and the Chew Valley. Old boundary oaks, young Trust planting and red soil paths.
Woodland Trust wood in the Winford valley, open at all times. Footpath access from the lanes.
