One for Chew Valley locals — a field-path wander to a wood most of the village doesn't know it owns. Make it a loop from Chew Magna's pubs and it's a very agreeable couple of hours; drive here specially and you'll wonder why.
A pair of quiet broadleaf woods in the farmland folds outside Chew Magna, reached on footpaths across the fields. Young planting alongside older hedgerow oaks, with the Chew Valley's soft green hills all round.
