Small Mouth

Our verdict

Calm, shallow water that's genuinely good for a dog that likes a paddle without surf — easy to combine with a there-and-back on the flat, traffic-free Rodwell Trail.

A small, sheltered bay at Ferrybridge where the Fleet lagoon meets Portland Harbour — historically the crossing point for a ferry to Portland before the first bridge opened in 1839. It sits right alongside the Rodwell Trail, the surfaced old railway path linking Weymouth and Ferrybridge.
