Two Mile Coppice, Broadwey Weymouth

Our verdict

A proper little ancient wood minutes from a housing estate, and easy to link with Lorton Meadows and Lodmoor for a longer Lorton Valley Nature Park outing. Good for bluebells in spring.

A 5.7-hectare Woodland Trust wood of ash, oak and hazel on the eastern edge of Weymouth, with 1.5 hectares of ancient woodland in its north-east corner. A circular earth-surfaced loop runs through the trees, reached via a bridleway that passes under the Weymouth Relief Road; a second kissing gate connects straight into Dorset Wildlife Trust's Lorton Meadows next door.
