Wareham Forest - Decoy Heath

Our verdict

Quieter than the western side of the forest and a good link into Morden Bog itself, though the ground can be soft after rain. Like much of the Purbeck heaths, tracks can close in dry spells if wildfire risk spikes — Wareham Forest itself lost over 220 hectares to fire in 2020, so it pays to check before a summer visit.

The lower, southern part of the Morden Bog National Nature Reserve complex, an area of open heathland and bog forming the eastern edge of Wareham Forest, crossed by the waymarked Wareham Forest Walk.
