Our verdict
Studland's beach and heath are genuinely lovely and the dog-walking routes along the water's edge are some of the best in Dorset, but this is also one of the most popular spots on the whole coast — expect packed car parks, a paid parking charge, and a 2m lead rule on the beach between May and September. Go early or out of season if crowds aren't your thing.
Part of Studland and Godlingston Heath, the largest expanse of unspoiled lowland heath left in Dorset, managed by the National Trust, towards Ulwell (Godlingston Heath). Over four miles of dog-friendly routes link the heath to Studland's beaches and Poole Harbour.
