Steep going but short, and it links straight into the Melbury Beacon and Compton Down walks for a longer outing. Dogs on a lead — sheep graze here too.
The steep chalk grassland flank of Melbury Hill itself, immediately below the Melbury Beacon summit, with glow-worms a noted summer draw on the walk between here and Compton Down.
