Not ancient, not dramatic, but a genuinely pleasant flat loop with five entrances and grass paths throughout — easy to link with Mouldon Hill for a longer walk. Parking is really at the country park next door, so treat the two as one outing. Can turn to mud after rain; the Sustrans route along the south edge is the driest option.
A young Woodland Trust wood on the north-west edge of Swindon, planted with native broadleaves since the late 1990s and running straight into Mouldon Hill Country Park next door over a footbridge. Berriman's Wood, the older millennium-planted corner, has a parish marker stone and the best birdsong — listen for cuckoo, green woodpecker and tawny owls at dusk.
