Chirton Bottom

Our verdict

A modest stop rather than a destination — good for combining with a walk around Chirton or neighbouring Urchfont, less so on its own.

A mile-wide stretch of lower chalk south of the village of Chirton, five miles south-east of Devizes, crossed by a public bridleway. Quiet farmland-edge walking rather than a dramatic landscape, but a genuine, well-used route.

Open access land — you can roam freely on foot.
