Not a conventional walking spot — this is live MOD training land, and the plantation woodland here is off-limits under Salisbury Plain byelaws regardless. Only use the signposted byway, check the SPTA Walks Line (01980 674763) or look for red flags before setting out, and treat any advertised access times as provisional.
A working Ministry of Defence urban warfare training facility on Salisbury Plain, built in 1988 to resemble a Bavarian village for close-quarters battle exercises. Non-combat access is generally restricted, but a designated byway and the Imber Range Path cross the site — take the track opposite the village entrance, signposted as a byway, then the minor track left across the grassland.
Open access land — you can roam freely on foot.
