Our verdict

Come for the downland walking, not the road — there's genuine open access land here away from the tarmac, with the same big Cranborne Chase views as Win Green next door. Take care of traffic if you're parking anywhere near the bends themselves.

A steep chalk ridge on the Wiltshire/Dorset border famous for the hairpin bends of the B3081 that climbs it — reputedly Britain's bendiest stretch of road — but the open-access downland either side is walkable away from the traffic, part of the same high ground as Win Green just to the north.

Open access land — you can roam freely on foot.
