One of the best all-rounders in this county — genuine history, an easy flat walk, and enough film-location spotting to keep any Harry Potter fan busy for an afternoon. Busy on weekends and school holidays, so come early if you want the streets to yourself.
A near-perfectly preserved medieval village owned almost entirely by the National Trust, its stone cottages and thirteenth-century abbey unchanged enough to have doubled as Hogwarts in three Harry Potter films. Three signposted walks fan out from the village: a 1.3-mile circuit of the village itself, a mile-long Pleasure Garden walk along the River Avon with abbey views, and the 1.25-mile Lovers' Walk past the church and ford.
