More interesting underfoot than it looks from the beach car park — the dune slacks hold rare plants and orchids if you go looking, and the whole system does real work protecting the Levels from the sea. Easy, undulating walking, and the dog can run free the whole way.
A six-kilometre run of wind-sculpted sand dunes along the Somerset coast between Burnham-on-Sea and Brean, part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a crucial natural sea defence for the Levels behind it. Marram grass, dune slacks and, on a clear day, views across the Bristol Channel to Wales.
