Our verdict

A vast big-sky wetland reclaimed from farmland, alive with wading birds and almost nobody else. Flat, wild, and brilliant for a blustery think.

One of England's largest new wetlands, deliberately flooded to create saltmarsh and lagoons on the edge of Bridgwater Bay. Vast skies and clouds of wading birds.

Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust reserve from reclaimed farmland. Flat trails and hides; dogs on leads near birds.
