Glastonbury Willow Walk

Our verdict

The Levels in miniature — willows, water, huge sky — and the proper walking route from town to the starling murmurations at Ham Wall. Flat as a griddle, bewitching in mist, and somehow still mostly used by locals.

A pollarded willow avenue running from the edge of Glastonbury out onto the open peat moors towards Ham Wall, the Tor at your back and mile upon mile of rhyne-cut Levels ahead.

A flat willow-lined path out of Glastonbury onto the moors, open at all times.
