Wills Neck

Our verdict

The best all-round view in the Quantocks and a surprisingly short climb from Triscombe Stone — about twenty minutes up a decent track. Exposed at the top and the wind funnels along the ridge, so take a layer even in summer.

At 384m the highest Quantock, a heathy ridge dropping into deep oak-wooded combes. On a clear day the view takes in Exmoor, the Brecon Beacons, the Mendips, the Blackdowns and Dartmoor from a single spot.

Open access common in England's first AONB. Roam freely on foot; livestock graze, so dogs under control.
