Nether Stowey Bypass Woodland

Our verdict

Functional green infrastructure, not a destination; Coleridge walked to the Quantocks, and so should you. Its use is as the connecting strip on a village-to-hills loop — for the wood itself, only the dog will thank you.

The strip of maturing broadleaf planting that screens Nether Stowey — Coleridge's village — from its bypass, linking field paths on the Quantock side of the road.

A belt of highway planting along the village bypass, open at all times. It borders the A39 — leads on.
