Our verdict
A stepping stone rather than a destination — climb through it on the way up to the Quantock ridge and it earns its keep. Bluebells in spring are the reason to make it the point of the walk.
A steep little hazel and oak coppice on the first rise of the Quantocks above Kingston St Mary, with old coppice stools, spring flowers and views back over the vale to Taunton.
Small Woodland Trust coppice, open at all times. No facilities and no car park — walk in from the village.
