Prior's Wood

Our verdict

For two weeks a year this is the place — arrive early or midweek, the lanes clog on bluebell weekends. The rest of the year it's a pleasant, unremarkable wood.

Avon Wildlife Trust woodland above Portbury famous for one thing above all: some of the best bluebells anywhere near Bristol, flooding the coppice in late April.
