Our verdict
A classic small ancient wood doing all the classic things: bluebells in May, wood anemones before them, birdsong stereo throughout. Half an hour's wander, ideally timed for spring and finished at the Battleaxes.
An ancient bluebell wood on the ridge at Wraxall between Nailsea and the Failand hills — old coppice, spring flowers in waves, and gaps in the canopy framing the Gordano valley.
Woodland Trust ancient woodland at Wraxall, open at all times.
