Lydeard Hill

Our verdict

Maximum ridge for minimum climb. Park, stroll ten minutes, and the whole Vale of Taunton Deane is at your feet. The stepping-off point for a proper Wills Neck yomp.

The easy way onto the high Quantocks — a car park almost at the top, heath and beech clumps, and the ridge path running straight off towards Wills Neck, the range's highest point.

Open access land under the Countryside & Rights of Way Act. You're free to roam on foot beyond the paths. Dogs on a short lead 1 March to 31 July and around livestock.
