Goblin Combe

Our verdict

The spookiest-named walk in Somerset and one of the loveliest — cathedral-quiet woods, a proper rocky scramble of a path, and planes from Bristol Airport skimming the treetops. Kids love it.

A deep dry limestone gorge buried in yew and beech woodland near Cleeve, climbing to open rocky viewpoints above the trees — with a name that keeps children walking.
