Woodcombe

Our verdict

Minehead's secret valley — thatched hamlet at the bottom, moor at the top, and a wooded stream climb between that most visitors never suspect exists. Quieter than the seafront routes up North Hill by a country mile.

The deep green combe behind Woodcombe hamlet on Minehead's western edge, where a stream-cut valley climbs between old orchards and hanging woods onto the flank of North Hill.

Wooded combe on the edge of Minehead, open on the bridleway network. Leads on — stock on the hill above.
