Porlock Allotment

Our verdict

Big, bare moorland with the Bristol Channel laid out below and almost no one about — the views start the moment you leave the car. Little shelter and few landmarks, so take a map and don't count on a phone signal.

Open moorland on the high ground above Porlock Hill, reached from the Whitstone Post junction at the top. A damaged prehistoric stone circle sits just west of the Exford road, a short way south of the Whit Stones.

Open access land — you can roam freely on foot.
