Brushford Railway Cutting

Our verdict

A curiosity for railway ramblers and a sheltered option when the moor's weathered in. It's a cutting, so manage expectations on views — but as a link in a walk from Brushford towards the Barle it does quiet, green duty.

A leafy cutting on the dismantled Exe Valley branch line at Brushford, below Dulverton — now a sheltered green corridor where the embankment trees have closed over the old trackbed.

A wooded stretch of the old Exe Valley railway line, open at all times.
