Cheddar Cliffs

Our verdict

The gorge from above instead of below — vertiginous, magnificent and a proper thigh-burner. Not one for loose dogs or wobbly knees.

The National Trust's south side of Cheddar Gorge, where the cliff-top path climbs from the village to the plateau.
