Our verdict
A short, easy walk up to a genuinely striking landmark, and quiet outside peak summer weekends. There's very little parking nearby, so this works best as an add-on if you're already walking the Purbeck ridge rather than a stand-alone trip.
An 18th-century folly, also known as Creech Folly, built in 1746 by Denis Bond of nearby Creech Grange as an eye-catcher on the ridge above the estate. The triple-arched, battlemented structure frames views south over the Purbeck heaths towards Corfe Castle and the ridge beyond, and is now owned by the National Trust.
