Our verdict
A good approach if you want to extend the main Hambledon Hill walk rather than a separate destination — the CRoW land links naturally into the NNR paths. Cattle graze nearby in summer, so dogs on a lead.
CRoW access land on the flank of Hambledon Hill, adjoining the National Nature Reserve that covers the hillfort itself. Same steep chalk grassland and the same sweeping views over the Blackmore Vale as the main reserve, just the fringe of open access land around it rather than the scheduled monument at the top.
